I’m on your team. Let’s tackle your goals, together.

Creating the life you want.

I believe counseling should focus on supporting the client to build a life worth living. Therapy should be a space where you can let go of who you “should be” and develop a healthier relationship with who you want to be. Only you know what life “fits” you best, but it is helpful to have someone along for that journey to point out lessons along the way. My goal is to help you identify what in your life keeps you stuck, what roles and values fulfill you, and how to minimize the former while maximizing the latter.

Accepting reality as it is, pushing for change where we can.

Many of us know the words of the Serenity Pledge: "Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.” Our time together focuses on a warm approach of openness, compassion, and an appreciation of your amazing strengths. Let’s celebrate your wins and keep (gently) pushing forward in the areas where more growth is possible!

Untangling the threads that connect us to past, present, and future.

I have always found the “invisible red thread” proverb to be descriptive of the work we do in therapy: noticing the threads that connect you to the people around you, pulling on the threads of interest and seeing what insights they lead us to, honoring threads that connect us to the past, while staying anchored in the present and turned with our gaze towards the future. Let’s strengthen the “thread connections” that serve you, and create distance from connections that do not!

While I practice general psychotherapy, I do have areas of specialty:

  • Body Image and Disordered Eating

    • I am a Eating Disorder Intuitive Therapy (EDIT) Certified I - Eating Disorder Treatment Clinician

    • Coaching men and women to tap into the intuitive wisdom of the body for exercise and eating; moving away from using eating to pursue control, disconnection, coping, and perfection

  • Queer Issues

    • I am a Society for Sexual, Affectional, Intersex, and Gender Expansive Identities (SAIGE) Member

    • Addressing attachment-based trauma, co-dependency, and unhealthy power dynamics that can stem from the lack of representation and support we needed when we were younger

    • Queer relationship issues and ethical non-monogamy/polyamory; making these dynamics work in a world “built for” heterosexual monogamy

  • Process-Based Addictions

    • Pornography, sexual compulsion, gambling, eating, working out, shopping, etc.

    • How to successfully interface with addictive people, things, and behaviors when complete abstinence is not necessarily an option

  • Obsessive Anxiety & Intrusive Thoughts

    • Specific Phobias

    • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
